Celebration Books form
Throughout the school year, our library celebrates books and raises library funds! If you would like to support our library, you can donate twenty dollars and have a book donated in honor of your child. Your student will choose the book from our selection and have a picture put up in the library as thanks! If you are interested, please fill out the following form:

It's that time of year! Students will be walking into their new classrooms at Fred Olds in about nine days! There are many great books about starting school! Here are a few of my favorites:
There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books by Lucille Colandro: The old lady who swallowed a fly is back! Now she's ready for school, but instead of using her school supplies, she's eating them! What will happen when she eats too much? Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes: Chrysanthemum loves her name, but when she begins school, all the other mice make fun of her. Will Chrysanthemum be able to show them how special her name is? Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten by Joseph Slate: It's the first day of Kindergarten! How will the students and Miss Bindergarten get ready for kindergarten? Marley Goes to School by John Grogan: Cassie is going back to school, but so is Marley! How will the school handle an energetic dog running all over the halls? The World According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney: Humphrey has a lot to learn about being the classroom hamster! Will he enjoy going to school? Make sure to visit our Back to School display on the first day of school to see these books and many more! If you have been checking this website, you may notice that the curriculum and grade level quarter 4 goals have been removed. We are getting ready to begin next year's ILT curriculum, so stay tuned for the goals for 2013-2014 quarter 1 goals and projects!
Also, check back in a week or so for some great back to school book suggestions to get your students ready for another great year at Olds! Don't forget to keep reading and researching! Well, Olds Elementary is officially out for the summer! I think we had an amazing year of reading and research in the library. I hope everyone will continue to read amazing books and explore new topics (here's a fun topic: why do all the insects come out in the summer?). If you are reading a great book, share it with us in the comments! Have a fabulous summer, students, parents, and teachers!
