During these bright and festive holiday weeks, many people make room for new things by cleaning out the old. If you are cleaning off those bookshelves and would like a new home for some gently used books, please consider donating them to Books Are Magic. Books Are Magic is an organization that provides books for children from our school and many others who may not have books at home. There is a donation bin outside the library doors any time you would like to drop some books off. Happy Holidays! Don't forget to read over the winter break!

Did you know that the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction purchases eBooks for our students? What is an eBook? An eBook is an electronic book that you can read on a computer or device. There are many eBooks available to our school community through NC WISEOwl. At school, students can access the eBooks with ease. At home, they need a special username and password that you can receive from the librarian at your school.
To get to these resources, visit the NC WiseOwl website at http://www.ncwiseowl.org/ . Click on Elementary School Zone. On the left menu, choose eBook collection, where you can search by category, author, title, etc. Other great resources for reading books online are Storyline Online (the book is read by a celebrity on YouTube) and WeGiveBooks where the books you read also help various organizations receive books. Check out our website for other great links for students! I will be writing a new post soon about our great databases resources for research and learning. It's that time of year again! My favorite time- the Scholastic Book Fair! This year our fair starts on the night of Fall Festival, October 10. We will be open from 6-8pm with many great books on that Friday night. The following week, we will be open from 8:00-8:30am and 3:00-3:30pm on Monday through Wednesday as well as for scheduled class visits. Stay tuned for the link to our online fair, where you can also order books. Notices will be going home in Tuesday folders, so be sure to look! I can't wait to see you all there.

I mean an elephone Who tried to use the telephone- (Dear me! I am not certain quite That even now I've got it right.) Howe'er it was, he got his trunk Entangled in the telephunk; The more he tried to get it free, The louder buzzed the telephee- (I fear I'd better drop the song Of elephop and telephong!)
